Documents what each function needs for full functionality -- other
repo functions it calls, and external CLI tools it uses or falls
back gracefully without (e.g. rm/trash, ls/eza+lsd) -- matching the
existing CLASSIFICATION convention's placement and the ~20 functions
that already carried this label.
Also broadens verify-manual.py's dependency-resolution check to
recognize this repo's other existence-check idioms (command -q,
command -v, which -- not just type -q) and dng2avif's dynamic
type -q $cmd loop, since several genuine dependencies (eza, lsd,
fastfetch, fd, ps, ...) are only ever guarded that way.
Audits every function's interaction with the C1-shadowed commands
(uses-shadow/bypasses-shadow) and general hazards (destructive,
network, blocking-prompt) per the CLASSIFICATION schema.
Delegated the initial mechanical sweep to agy, then reviewed every
file by hand: fixed a systemic double-blank-comment-line formatting
bug from the delegate pass, and corrected several judgment errors
found on review -- three false blocking-prompt tags where a fish
'read' was consuming piped input rather than waiting on a terminal
(open-url.fish, sbver.fish, play-media.fish, now untagged entirely),
a blocking-prompt tag on mkrep.fish despite its documented --yes
escape hatch, an untagged read in jobrunner.fish's own baseless
blocking-prompt claim (removed, along with a destructive tag on
cleanup of its own mktemp output -- the schema explicitly excludes
that), the same own-output-cleanup false positive on
_zellij_dump_log.fish's destructive tag, an interactive fzf-gated
confirmation on logs.fish and replay.fish's piped read misread the
same way as the first three, and a uses-shadow(mkdir) on mkcd.fish
that actually belongs to the _fish_mkdir_p helper it delegates to,
not to mkcd itself.
Fills the gaps recorded in JOB-BRIEF-FINDINGS.md for the functions
converted to header-driven --help: 16 argument-less functions gain an
EXIT STATUS section (check_fish_deps, claude-docs, claude-pr, cleanup,
fast, fzf-update, gip, gip4, hist, limine-edit, lock, ports,
screensleep, steam-dl, swapstat, tmux-clean), and 8 functions that
already document ARGUMENTS gain EXIT STATUS too (lD, lsr, lss, lstree,
lt, ltr, lx, qr).
Not touched: gip6, ld, parur, sudo-toggle, upgrade, the JOB-BRIEF's
'missing ARGUMENTS' group. Re-checked their bodies against that claim
-- none of the five take a positional argument ($argv only appears
forwarded to the --help check), so an ARGUMENTS section would document
something that doesn't exist. All five already have EXIT STATUS.
lD, lsr, lss, lstree, lt, ltr, lx and ld. None shadows a real binary, so
there is no disabled-fallback contract to honour, and `eza --help`
documented eza rather than the preset that is these functions' entire
content. First-arg-only interception leaves `lt -la --help` passing
through to eza untouched.
Records each documented function's manual category in its own header, so
Section 5 can later be generated from source instead of hand-maintained
alongside it. Values reproduce the current grouping in
docs/manual/05-functions/ exactly; no documentation changes meaning here.
Four functions are skipped because they have no header at all yet
(branch, fc, gitup, sudo-toggle); they get one in the merge that follows.
Replace all ad-hoc inline comments between license headers and function
declarations with consistent SYNOPSIS / DESCRIPTION / ARGUMENTS / RETURNS /
EXAMPLE blocks across all 99 project-owned functions/ files. No executable
logic, variable names, or exit codes were modified.
Completes Task #6 from AGENTS.md (Retroactive Function Documentation
Standardization).
- Add comprehensive `--description` flags to all fish functions for better `help` and `functions` output.
- Introduce and correct `--wraps` flags to ensure proper completions for aliased commands (e.g., `top` wrapping `btop`, `zellij`, `upgrade` wrapping `paru`).
- Prepend descriptive comments before function definitions for better source readability.
- Add standard copyright and SPDX license identifiers to shell scripts.
- Enhance script robustness by ensuring consistent terminal checks (Kitty, WezTerm) and graceful fallbacks in window/tab spawning functions (`spwin`, `tab`).
- Implement graceful fallbacks to basic core utilities when preferred modern alternatives are missing (e.g., `top` falling back to system `top` if `btop` is missing, `view` falling back to `less` or `cat` if `nvim` is unavailable).
- Improve overall code consistency across the `functions/` directory.
- Upgrade ls to long listing (-l -a) and drop the standalone l and lS functions in favor of abbreviations
- Remove llm (ambiguous name, redundant with ltr)
- Add lsr (reversed time oneline), lss (size-sorted), lD (dirs-only), lx (extension-sorted)
- Enhance ltr with --all and age color-scale gradient
- Wire up ls abbreviations: l, lS, lsR, lX, lT, lsT
- Update README functions table and add Listing abbreviations section
